Ruabon is five miles from the Racecourse, and for the best part of a hundred years it was one of the most important places in Britain - enough terracotta fired to earn the village a nickname: Terracottapolis. That brick and tile ended up in Cardiff's Pier Head, Liverpool University, and even the interiors of the Titanic, shipped out from a seam of Etruria Marl clay found down the road from where this club has played since 1864.
The new Kop Stand at the Racecourse is designed with that same Ruabon-red brick façade, laid in a pattern lifted from the local Flemish bond brickwork - and before a single brick goes up, it's gone onto this crop top as an embossed gradient, fading across cream and black.
